Would you like to see clubs have the option of combining classes for licensed trials?

Lets discuss this question: Would you like to see beagle clubs have the option, for licensed trials, of combining either or both class by sex?

    To All:

    My answer is absoutley, yes!!

Combining classes by sex for licensed trials, as an option, would be a huge benefit for several reasons: (1) Creates more competition per class, therby, increasing the likelyhood that the best hounds (theoretically) will be awarded championships. (2) For the good of Brace Beagling, this could serve as a quality assurance measure. (3) Several clubs could hold a license trial in one day or combine with other clubs for a two or three trial event. (4) Pooling resources. (5) The Economic impact is that this will likely save hotel bills, fuel, meals, etc., and time away for those still working if you run both males and females (more bang for your buck).

There are probably several more reasons why combining classes would benefit beagling if the option were granted, and I would like to see others thoughts on this blog. However, the BAC denied this on the last go around but certainly never shared a real good reason why!

The key word is OPTION! If you don’t wish to combine classes at your club, that’s fine. There are many clubs that want to have an option!

Yes I two think that this is a good idea. Now this itsn’t saying that it should be took out of the club’s hands. They should have the last word on doing this. Now if we do this what happens to to the 13′ & 15′ classes.that would mean no measurement of any kind.Or would we say this is the best 13′ or the best 15′.There is a lot of thought that should go into this befor we say yes do it. You know some like 13′ class and some like the 15′ classes.I think that maybe you would get the best dog for that day by running males and females. one thing is for sure you would get more points for the win.

I AM NOT SURE THAT WE SHOULD COMBINE CLASSES IF THERE ARE AT LEAST SIX ENTRIES IN EACH CLASS; HOWEVER IF LETS SAY, ONLY FOUR 13″ BITCHES I THINK THEY SHOULD BE COMBINED WITH THE 15″ FEMALE CLASS. PRESENTLY THEY WOULD BE COMBINED WITH THE 13″ MALE CLASS. THE CLUB SHOULD HAVE THE OPTION BY COMBINING SEX OR SIZE. AT THIS TIME I AM OPPOSED TO COMBINING CLASSES IF THERE ARE AT LEAST SIX DOGS IN EACH CLASS

Yes, I think clubs should have the OPTION of combining classes by sex and I repeat the word OPTION. Especially with todays soaring gas prices, it would be a help in certain regions of the country where entries in a particular class might be a concern with having a sufficient number of entries to run a class. I do agree with Russ Arend, that if there are six entries in a class the classes should not be combined. Combing by size could realistically penalize a person if they bring a female in season and they were to draw a male bracemate in any series. In times like this we need to think outside the box without destroying the integrity of the sport.

I was only talking about putting the 13′ males and the 15” males together if there wasn’t enough dogs to make a class for the 13′ males.I’ve seen trials where the was not enough dogs to make a class. The males should run together and the females should run together. Say there was a class where there was not enought little males to make a class and there was some one who had dogs to run in the 13″ class but it wasn’t going to have one because there was not enough dogs to make one. Why can’t the club let those dogs run in the 15″ male class if the owner wanted to do so. I’m just saying that the club should have the say so in do something like this. If there is enough to run a class then run the classes.

I agree with Russ Arend’s answer to this. Leave things as they are unless there are not at least 6 of any one class. Then let the club decide whether to combine 13″ and 15″ males or females.
